How We Accidentally Became “Cruise Duck People”

Melanie recently posted a video about us learning about — and eventually embracing — the cruise duck tradition. After a few questions about what we brought, we figured we would share the actual items we bought for those who are interested.

Side note: Melanie made the lanyards you see in the photo herself. She found a pattern online, watched a few videos, bought the fabric, and sewed both the lanyards and the snap pocket. If you’re curious how she did it, we linked that article below.

Cruise Duck Items:

Duck-Themed Bucket Hats

Perhaps our favorite items were our duck bucket hats. They were great for embracing the tradition and also gave us a little sun protection around the ship.

Cruise Stateroom Door Duck Magnets

These magnets were great on our stateroom door and started quite a few conversations with other cruisers.

Jon will debut this shirt on the Norwegian Bliss in April.

Duck Sunglasses T-Shirt

Jon wore this on our last cruise, and it helped people quickly identify him as the “Duck Guy.”

Rubber Duck 50 Pack

These are the ducks we bought for our last cruise — a 50-pack of different designs.

100 Piece Cruise Ducks Kit (Ducks, Tags & Bands)

This is an all-in-one kit we bought the first time we tried cruise ducks. It includes ducks, tags, and rubber bands.

Duck Hang Tags

Some duck packs include tags, and some don’t. These are useful if you want to tag your ducks with information about where they came from or who hid them.

Duck Necklaces

Unfortunately the duck necklaces we bought are currently out of stock, but there are a few other options available.
