This is a realistic packing guide, not a “bring everything just in case” list.
Between New Orleans, sea days, and warm Caribbean ports, layers and re-wearing items matter more than quantity.

One thing we’ve learned cruising: we often change clothes multiple times per day—casual for breakfast, pool or excursion clothes mid-day, then something nicer for dinner and shows. Many of those pieces get re-worn later, so don’t overpack.

Also worth noting: Those in a Club Balcony Suite receive one bag of free laundry service mid-cruise. It’s not huge, but it’s enough to refresh a few key items if needed.

Absolute Must-Haves (Do Not Forget)

  • Passport (required for the cruise)
  • Driver’s license or backup ID
  • Cruise documents (digital is fine)
  • Credit card(s) with no international transaction fee + a little cash
  • Phone + charging cable
  • Prescriptions and essential medications

Clothing — City & Cruise

New Orleans (mild & changeable weather)

  • Light jacket or mid-weight sweater (evenings)
  • Long-sleeve shirts + short-sleeve tees
  • Casual pants or jeans
  • Rain layer or compact umbrella

Cruise & Tropical Days

  • Daytime: shorts, tees/tanks
  • Swimwear: 2 suits if you plan lots of pool or beach time
  • Evenings: smart-casual outfits
    (polos, lightweight pants, casual dresses, etc.)
  • Active excursions: comfortable, quick-dry clothing

Footwear

  • Walking shoes or sneakers (French Quarter cobblestones)
  • Sandals
  • Water shoes (helpful for rocky beaches or snorkeling)

Cooler Moments to Plan For

  • Light sweater or windbreaker for deck time
  • Sunday night sailing down the Mississippi River will be chilly
  • Monday sea day may feel cool and breezy, especially in shaded areas

Beach & Water Gear

  • Swimwear + cover-ups
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses & hat
  • Optional: snorkel mask
  • Optional: water shoes

Towels are provided onboard and can be checked out for excursions—no need to pack your own.


Accessories & Useful Extras

  • Insect repellent (some ports can be buggy)
  • Reusable water bottle or insulated mug
    • Water refill stations are available onboard
    • Bottled water costs extra
    • Handy for other drinks, too
  • Day bag or backpack for excursions
  • Power strip or USB hub (must be non-surge, cruise-ship compliant)
  • Charging cables for all devices

Weather-Based Tips

New Orleans

  • Cooler nights → layering is key
  • Light rain gear or umbrella helps if showers pop up

Cruise & Ports

  • Warm Caribbean water—great for swimming and snorkeling
  • Brief showers are possible but rarely ruin beach days

Sea Days

  • Wind + shade can feel cool
  • Always keep a light layer nearby, even in tropical weather
